North River End of Season Tournament
What a fun weekend !!!
What more can we say. The kids are having a blast on and off the ice. North River has put on an amazing job with this tournament and it shows on the kids faces. They have played in the gym between games and they did the skills competition Saturday afternoon as a team which was amazing. We had fun having lunch together as a team, going to the pancake breakfast as a team and it was fun to see the kids "trading" cards of themselves. I hope eveyone got a "complete set".

In a tournament where there are 10 teams participating and only the top 4 moved onto the crossovers, the Ducks......

Finished 3rd in the division and moved onto the crossovers

Sunday Vs. Tignish #2 (championship):

The Ducks got to play in another Championship game and everyone knew it was going to be a good game. It was going to come down to who wanted it more and who won the battles. Both teams played really strong, the kids on both teams worked their hardest with lots of intensity. The Tignish team came out strong and were firing everything they had at the Ducks. The Ducks scored first but Tignish soon answered back with 2 goals of their own. The action in the game went back and forth with scoring chances at both ends. Both Joe, the Ducks goalie, and the Tignish goalie played great games. The Tignish goalie made "many point blank" saves that looked like they were in or going in but somehow stayed out. The Ducks tried to tie it up before the end of the third period but were unable to get anything past the Tignish goalie.

It was a fun game by both teams and both teams should be congratulated for a fun and entertaing game. Hold you heads up Ducks. We made it to the Championship game and played all the way to the final day of hockey. Our team also did very well in the skills competition and took home several prize packages !! We had a great season and made new friends. It was a great year and the Ducks were sucessfull on and off the ice. Great job by everyone, from the kids, parents, coaches, and manager. Thank you for a wondeful year filled with great memories. Thanks everyone and we will see each other again at the party on Saturday...

Sunday Vs. Summerside Team 3 (crossovers):
The Ducks played Summerside Team 3, who finished second, in an early afternoon game. The Ducks came out flying and worked very hard for the whole game. They played as a team and worked hard for every shift. With all their hard work, the Ducks were able to generate many scoring chances which which the Ducks were able to convert into goals. They all did a great job and were able to secure a berth to the final with a hard fought win.

Game Results:
Ducks 7 Summerside 1

Player of the Game:
Rowan Walsh

Saturday morning Vs. Tignish #1:
The Ducks game to the rink Saturday morning looking to keep their momentum going. The Ducks knew it was going to be a good game and that they would have to come out strong and hard against this very good Tignish team. It was a great game by both teams and easily could of gone either way. The Ducks tried their best but were not able to secure the win. The Ducks did try their best and all the kids did their best but it was just one of those games were the puck was either a half a bounce or the kids were a half a step away from a break away.

Just remember boys and girls to play our game. The Ducks are a great team and when we do the little things that have made us a great team, then we are very hard to beat. Remember to always clear the puck "up" the boards and not to carry the puck or shoot it out in front of the net. Always be skating hard at both ends of the ice. Joe had another great game in nets and kept the Ducks in the game. It was a good game today boys and girls and if we had of had the right bounces, it might of been a different tale on the scoreboard. We now have to wait and see what the outcome is for 2 games being played on Sunday morning. It looks like right now, the Ducks are in the cross overs we just have to wait and see where we are seated.... GO TEAM DUCKS !!!

Game Results:
Ducks 2 Tignish 4

Player of the Game:
Joe Hansen

Friday Afternoon Vs. Summerside Team 2:
The Ducks were on the ice again in the afternoon for their last of 2 games. The Ducks knew that they were going to have to come out even stronger with lots more energy against Summerside Team 2. The boys and girls played a great game. The Ducks came out on fire and had break away after break away. The coaches were soon wondering what was in their drinks and food over lunch, because they were burning up the ice with the speed and energy that they were showing. The Ducks did a much better job in the second game of moving the puck up the ice along the boards and passing the puck. Another Great job boys and girls. GO TEAM DUCKS !!!

Game Results:
Ducks 10 Summerside 2

Player of the Game:
Nathan Mahar

Friday morning Vs. Pownal Rangers:
The Ducks hit the ice this morning with their first of 2 games. The Ducks knew that they were going to have to come out strong with lots of energy against the Pownal Rangers. The boys and girls played a good game. The Ducks started the game a little slow but soon turned it around and never looked back. It was a good game and everyone played their hardest. Just remember to always move the puck up the boards and to hustle at both ends of the ice. Great job boys and girls.

Game Results:
Ducks 5 Rangers 1

Player of the Game:
Lila Mitchell
